Is there any difference between men’s and women’s eyeglasses?

Just like every single other thing, eyeglasses have also seen change, reforms, and revisions over the times. There was a time when people went for simpler and sober styles in eyeglasses, then came a time when people went for bigger frames and now, everybody seems to prefer stylish and elegant designs for their eyeglasses. Similarly the changing trends also include bifocal eyeglasses, colored eyeglasses and eyeglasses with holders. The variations are endless and they differ with person to person as well. It’s all about individualistic style statement and the way you want to carry yourself. Men and women have always loved their own individuality and sense of style in each and everything. Be it jeans, purses, hairstyles, anything, you will never find any similarity among them all. There has got to be some uniqueness and difference in everything. Even in their eyeglasses! In most cases men’s eyeglasses have different shape then a regular woman’s eyeglasses. The funny part about the difference in men’s and women’s eyeglasses is the fact that it has never been so very prominent or obvious. It’s subtle and slight. You got to figure it out yourself if a particular pair of eyeglasses will suit you as a man/woman or not.

This very aspect of subtle difference between women’s and men’s eyeglasses provides you with an edge and allows you to choose from a wider range of options available. For example if you are a female and consider rimless eyeglasses to be more of boyish and less of womanish, but after wearing one you feel like it goes with your personality and suits you than you always have the liberty to go for it without any second thought, and vice verse. Some people are also of the view that there is really no difference between men’s and women’s eyeglasses and one can always go for any eyeglass without anything like gender discrimination. They are of the view that since all eyeglasses are more or less the same with slight differences in their shapes, sizes and colors, nothing really affects them to the extent that they can be categorized as male/ female eyeglasses. For kids, obviously, the difference is more evident because you see interesting and different shapes in their frames and also colors but otherwise no other difference as such.

However those people who believe that men and women do have different choices in eyeglasses support their claim by saying that women always go for attractive and funky colorful range in eyeglasses with tinges of bright color and bold styles in frames whereas men would always prefer only those shapes, sizes and colors in eyeglasses which are simple, sober, land light-colored. Also you find a difference in the shapes and sizes because generally, men’s eyeglasses are slightly bigger in size as compared to women eye glasses because of the difference in sizes of their shapes and also the difference between both temples; which is usually more in men and less in women. Depending upon the personal choice and preference, people go for eyeglasses which, for them, are comfortable and easy to carry.
