  • What is astigmatism?

I just received an eye exam and I have my script. My eye doctor told me I am astigmatic and does need astigmatism glasses correction. Can you tell me what is astigmatism?

Atigmatism is actually refers to the light sensitivity of our eyes, the cornea is not at all in normal shape. It is curved like a baseball. It is more complicated how the vision works to form and image when the light rays are refracted or bent as they pass through the cornea and lens. Our retina then transmits or converts the light messages sending it to the brain through our optic nerves.
In other words, eyes with astigmatism sees images blurry and stretched out images. This can be cured by wearing astigmatism eyeglasses or in severe cases , a surgery has to be done to correct this eye condition.
