We are thinking of getting FP1081 in prescription sunglasses for our 9 yo
son. I see the arms are coloured. I can't see the photo clearly. They're
not too girly for a 9yo boy, are they?

For a 9 year old boy, you can pick on FP1081 Black frames. Check on the total width of the frame if they sure fit. The TOTAL WIDTH of the frame is the distance across from the far left to the far right of the frame when looking straight at it.

To get your total width of the frame, measure the hinge to hinge distance of your own frame, or you can measure the distance between the front edges of your forehead. Remember 1 inch= 25.4mm
