Default Never Wear Coke Bottle Glasses

I always wear coke-bottle glasses as my Rx is -10.00 and -8.25, the prescription lenses are really thick, and it's difficult for me to order prescription sunglasses with cool plastic frames, I want to know if there are special lens materials which can make my prescription lens much thinner? How much should I pay for them? I don't want coke-bottle glasses anymore!
Thanks in advance!

Default

There are aspheric high-index prescription lenses and polycarbonate lenses that could be made very thin in your prescription if you chose the right eyeglass frame. You can try to get some frames with fairly round or oval (no corners) shape, get the smallest possible.

Default How thin should i go?

The higher the index, the thinner the lens. How thin it can be depends on your prescription.
Normally 1.74 index lens are about 50% thinner than 1.50 index lens.

How thin should i go? -- If you have high RX ( sphere or cyl more than +/- 2.50), pick 1.61 or higher index.
If you have super high RX ( sphere or cyl more than +/- 4.00), pick 1.67 or higher index.
If your sphere or cyl is more than +/- 6.00, always go for 1.74 index.

Default lens are designed to resist strong impact

Cheapglasses123.com, they don't have coke bottle glasses.
Even if you enjoy sports ( playing balls, jogging, etc) , then you should consider high impact or polycarbonate lens.
Those lens are designed to resist strong impact, such as sudden drop, or being stepped on.
The main difference between those 2 types of lens are High Impact can be tinted, while Polycarbonate can not.
Also Polycarbonate is a little thinner than High impact.

They also recommend High Impact or Polycarbonate lens if you are buying rimless frame.
