There are several types of Bifocals, one of which is the "D" shaped bifocals which is the most common. Another type is the Blended bifocals which you see only a very little visible line separating top distance vision and bottom reading. It is two lenses in one, it helps you see distance and reading near vision at the same time.

Progressive eyeglasses is called no line bifocal, so next time. when you placed an order, make it sure that you order a progressive since you want no line, if it is with line, meaning its a bifocal,

My prescription has 2 sets of spherical numbers- numbers, d.v., and n.v.. Does this mean they are bifocals?

NV or NVO = near-vision or near-vision-only; your doctor is recommending "reading-only" glasses,

D.V means distance vision, no need to pay extra because d.v is just a regular or standard prescription.
